Storyline is based on the Sarubbi boys, forced to change their Italian name to the more acceptable, "Wagner." Eleven brothers fought in the bantamweight division. Biography is based on author's original book about her family.

Willowbrook was an asylum in Staten Island. In 1947, where doctors used the patients for experimental hepatitis injections. In the 1970's, Staten Island Community College sent child care/psychology students there for an internship. This fictional screenplay is based on the actual experience and memories of the intern, Arlene Sparaco.
